EU PATENT GRANTED FOR THE INTUITOOL LAPAROSCOPIC DEVICE

EMCI is pleased to announce that it has been granted a European patent for its breakthrough laparoscopic device, the “Intuitool.” The EU Patent Number is EP3638136.

The Intuitool allows surgeons performing laparoscopic surgery to intuitively rotate the end effector up to 270 degrees by use of a lockable and releaseable thumb-ball. This prevents most of the movement of a laparoscopic device inside of the patient, while also providing more comfort and less carpal-tunnel damage to the surgeon.

The Intuitool is also a “reposable” device, with a durable, reusable handle and disposable inserts for the various tools (e.g., knife, scissors). This provides a much higher quality and more useful handle, while reducing the overall cost significantly.

EMCI already has a U.S. Patent for the Intuitool, with a second U.S. Patent held by the University of Nebraska.
